Intermountain Therapy Animals (ITA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah. ITA provides animal-assisted therapy and interactions through volunteer teams of people and their companion animals. Serving communities in Utah and Montana, ITA's therapy teams visit healthcare and educational facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and detention centers to improve the quality of life for individuals facing physical, emotional, or psychological challenges. ITA also runs the R.E.A.D.® program, which uses therapy animals to help children improve literacy and communication skills.
